Benefits of Implants Over Dentures

Posted on 2/7/2022 by Dr. Michael Wockenfus
Benefits of Implants Over DenturesDental Implants and dentures are great dental devices that can be used to replace your missing teeth, depending on your dental condition. Implants are most preferred since they are permanent solutions. However, you cannot get implants if you have gum issues. This leaves dental dentures as the better option. The problem is that most people are always worried about using them because they think they might fall and embarrass them in public. But assuming your oral health is in good condition, dental implants can be the best solution to replacing your missing teeth, and here is why;

They Feel Like Natural Teeth

Unlike dentures, dental implants feel like your natural teeth since they are installed in your jawbone. They require a surgical procedure to have them successfully placed in your jaw. If your gums are healthy and strong, they can also be placed inside the gums instead of the jawbone. Both procedures work, and they support your implants, allowing them to act like natural teeth.

Implants Preserve the Jawbone

When you have missing teeth, your jawbone tends to shrink as there are no teeth to stimulate its growth. Thankfully, implants can help prevent your jawbone from reducing in size. This, in turn, prevents your face from appearing sunken. Apart from that, implants allow you to clean your mouth effectively.

Implants Last for A lifetime

When you use implants to replace your missing teeth, they can last you for a lifetime. Unlike removable dentures, dental implants are permanent, which means they do not need to be removed when you are cleaning your mouth.

How to Take Care of Your Implants

If you have implants, you need to know that they require high hygiene standards. Otherwise, they will cause gum problems and other oral infections. Implants can sometimes be loose, and this will irritate your gums. If you experience this, have your implants fixed immediately. At our dental clinic, we ensure all our patients are happy with our services. If you need implants, do not hesitate to contact us.
