Porcelain Veneers
Menasha, WI

Your teeth do a lot for you every day. They allow you to enjoy all kinds of delicious foods. They help you to form a variety of words and sounds. Your teeth are also an integral component in the appearance of your smile. Any flaws, no matter how minor they seem, can have a significant impact on your smile, and your confidence. Mid Valley Dental can help to improve the quality of your smile with porcelain veneers.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental restoration that is used to improve the appearance of front teeth that are affected by minor flaws. These restorations resemble small, thin shells, and are made to be bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. As a result, they effectively cover over the flaws, helping you to restore, or achieve, a gorgeous smile.

What Can Porcelain Veneers Treat?

Porcelain veneers can be used to treat some different cosmetic concerns. These include:
•  Small chips or cracks in your tooth enamel.
•  Gaps between teeth.
•  Minor overlapping.
•  Teeth that are unusually small.
•  Teeth that are oddly shaped.
•  Discoloration that has not responded to whitening.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are typically made from either composite resin or porcelain. We proudly provide porcelain veneers for their many incredible benefits. While both composite resin and porcelain are tooth-colored, porcelain provides a much more realistic appearance. Not only can we stain these veneers to perfectly blend in with the rest of your natural teeth, but the material also reflects light just like natural enamel. Other benefits of porcelain include:
•  Stronger and longer-lasting. Porcelain is stronger than composite resin and can last up to 15 years or more.
•  Biocompatible material. Porcelain will not irritate your gums. The tissue will rest easily around it just like it does around your natural teeth.
•  Stain resistance. Where composite resin is porous, porcelain is not. This enables it to resist stains. It is more stain resistant than your natural teeth.

Placing Your Porcelain Veneers

The process for placing porcelain veneers typically requires two separate appointments. During your first appointment, we first need to prepare the teeth. This process, performed under a local anesthetic for your comfort, involves removing a small portion of your enamel from the front surfaces of your teeth. Removing this enamel is essential for ensuring a comfortable, natural fit for your new veneers.

After preparing the teeth, we take an impression of them. The impression is then sent to our dental lab, where technicians use it to design and create your customized porcelain veneers. The process can take up to two weeks to complete. Because we only need to remove a small portion of your tooth enamel, temporary veneers are not always necessary. They can, however, be provided for aesthetics while you wait. When they are finished, you have your second appointment. At this appointment, we assess your veneers for a proper fit and a natural bite. If everything looks and feels good, we then bond them into place on your teeth.

With porcelain veneers, we can improve the appearance of your teeth, enhancing the beauty of your smile and giving you back your confidence. For more information, and to schedule your appointment, call Mid Valley Dental at (920) 215-4160 today.
