How to Keep Your Teeth Stain-Free

Posted on 1/11/2021 by Dr. Michael Wockenfus
How to Keep Your Teeth Stain-FreeIf you are a coffee or tea lover, you probably struggle with stained or discolored teeth. Both beverages contain tannins, organic substances found in plants that build up on the tooth enamel, leading to stained teeth.

However, you are in luck because there are many ways and techniques that can help you keep your teeth stain-free. Here are a few things you should do to prevent your teeth from getting stained.

Brushing After Every Meal

Needless to say, regular brushing is one of the key requirements for a bright, healthy smile as well as to keep those pearly whites stain-free. Make it a habit to brush your teeth after every meal, and try to brush in a circular motion instead of doing it back and forth.

Drink with A Straw

When drinking liquids such as tea, coffee, wine, or juice, it is best to drink with a straw. Drinking with a straw will help keep the stains away since the liquid isn't likely to touch or come in contact with the surface of your teeth that is visible in the front.

Rinse Your Mouth With An Antibacterial Mouthwash

Every time you eat or drink something that has stain-causing abilities, make sure to rinse your mouth with an antibacterial mouthwash. This helps fight plaque on the teeth and keep the stains at bay.

Professional Teeth Cleaning

It is a good idea to get your teeth professionally cleaned and make an appointment with your dentist at least twice a year. Professional teeth cleaning treatment will not only make your teeth stain-free but will also give you a brighter, healthier smile.

At Mid Valley Dental, Michael J. Wockenfus, DDS and Dr. Wockenfus take special care to clean your teeth to remove all visible stains.
